I've spent a few minutes trying to catch up on my Friends page. I haven't updated in forever because we've been swamped at work, but I have a few minutes and needed a break!
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Ours was good. We went to Gulf Shores for Thanksgiving - it was warm and sunny and wonderful! I had fun with my Dad's family, some of whom I'd never met. My aunt and mother-in-law started in on us about "See those little people down on the beach? They're called children! When are we gonna get some from ya'll?" but it was mostly just in fun.
I realized how important good friends are. We went out with my two best girlfriends (who currently live out of town) and their significant others on Saturday and had the best time! I can completely be myself around them and don't have to hide anything. There are no secrets between us and, thank God, none of them are sleeping around with anyone else and there is no drama! My husband's "friends" (who needs enemies?) have been driving me up the wall, so it was wonderful to hang with some real friends. I kept telling them how great they are. Good friends are the best medicine.
At least one person on my Friends list will appreciate this: I got some SEXY shoes today! This is no small feat since I wear a size 9.5 shoe! They are strappy black sandals with tall skinny heels and rhinestones and will look amazing with my black dress. (I got the BEST black dress to wear to the Christmas Cotillion we go to with my aunt and uncle every year. I'm hiding it from my husband because I cannot wait to see his reaction when I wear it!). Now I finally know how why other girls get so excited over pretty shoes because I found some that actually FIT a 9.5 without making my feet look like tugboats!
We got a Christmas tree Sunday. I was pretty determined that I wanted to cut down a fresh tree. We got one from the Home Depot last year, but it died 3 days later and the needles slowly fell out. I had to vaccum underneath it every day! It was hard finding a tree farm that wasn't destroyed by Katrina, but my husband is a sweetheart and found one and cut it down for me. It smells divine and makes the apartment seem so warm and cherry! I love Christmas.
I suppose that's all for now. I just wanted to check in and say hello!
