The band played again last night, this time opening up for Helix in Toronto. It's amazing to see the kind of show that Helix put on after 30 years of playing , makes me wonder how I'd hold after another 25 years in this 'business'.
The other opening act, Scarlet Sins, were really refreshing as well. Not to downplay the current state of the Windsor scene, but I haven't had a show around these parts in quite some time where all the bands were genuinely interested in each others' material and would take the time to talk and build up camaraderie. This was especially underscored by the down-to-earth nature of Helix. As a decent name in the metal/hard rock scene, it was nice to see a friendly and engaging set of musicians that were approachable. I sincerely wish that Windsor would have some revelation for all the potential and talent that resides within its numerous artists. Maybe I just wish there were some palpable turnouts for local gigs ...

The wicked winter chill did nothing to inspire the rest of my Saturday, however. We didn't get to our resting destination following the show until nearly 5 o'clock in the morning. Sleep was a luxury since we needed to leave three hours later in order to have certain members of our entourage (including yours truly) back to Windsor in time for our day jobs.
On a completely unrelated note, I had an interesting dining experience with a rather interesting group. The conversation was pushing several envelopes for the taboo, which is always welcomed in a family-oriented setting. Although I was perfectly aware of the stigma attached to the restaurant we frequented it was pathetic to note the lack of vegetarian options at Red Lobster. I know that some could say that I set myself up for it, but I wasn't very pleased to be urged by the rest of the group that fish doesn't count against vegetarianism. That after having to deal with another wholly innovative and original set of comments from my fellow band members all weekend while dining out.
Once again, I'm at the point of exhaustion with no end in sight. I have a voluminous slate of reading on the docket for tomorrow after work.
I really don't care much if this entry seems disjointed. It's much better to randomly vent on here rather than lash out at my friends over their repetitive and disrespectful comments. Sadly, their comments were nearly a paraphrase of a video I saw recently entitled 'Steven the Vegan' - yet, as far as I could tell, they weren't joking.
Finally saw 'The Aristocrats' with Bruno. Good times.
Last note - I finally shaved the goatee. I might just stay baby-faced for the first time in ... six(?) years. Then again, I might just bring back the beard.
