More Wedding news... I know, I know! I expect there will be a few more of these as the day draws closer. I just wanted to share a bit of the DIY decor my mother, maid of honor and myself have been working on. As I mentioned in a previous post, I will be having two celebrations. One will be for just close, immediate family at my mother's house "upstate" (Goshen, NY haha) in the backyard. The second celebration will be two weeks later, after Forrest and I legally get married at a courthouse in NYC, at the upstairs of my restaurant with close friends. It will just be drinks and snacks.
Originally when I was going to have one, larger more traditional wedding I had it in my head that I would do a Medieval theme. (Something I've planned since I was a little girl and Forrest and I talked about six months into dating haha... we are on six years now.) Once I downsized the wedding I thought, well, eh there goes that idea but my mom still had it in mind as she picked up decorations for the yard and now we are doing a mild version of that. It's actually turning out pretty nice. I will take a TON of photos the day of but in the meantime here are a few:
My mom found this wood and painted it/nailed some inexpensive sword and shields on it; I think it looks cute!
Here is some more decor that is already out, this area will be where the speakers and drink station will be.
And the thing I am most proud of is the castle cupcake (I decided to do cupcakes instead of a wedding cake) presenter my maid of honor, Megan, and myself created. We made this from scratch from cardboard, acrylic paint, stones, moss and a piece of belt! I am so amazed by her (she is an artist after all) as she measured and created the boxes herself which was quite a project. We worked on this and finished in one day after 8 hours of work! Yup! It holds 40 cupcakes :D
And tomorrow is my bachelorette party, so so excited! I, of course, will share all about it (photos and all) afterwards! :D
