Brooklyn Ava's Here.
She arrived October 12 @ 9:31 a.m.
She weighed 6lbs 7oz & was 20 inches long.
She shares her birthday with my cousin Jessica.
Late Tuesday evening we were having regular contractions. They were increasing in intensity so we decided to head to the hospital. When we got to the hospital there was no room available so we were in the waiting room for atleast three hours. Once we got settled into a room they started monitoring my contractions which were coming pretty regularly at about 7 minutes apart. I was dialated to 3 cm but they didn't think anything was going to happen that night so they told us to get some sleep. They hooked me up to the belly monitor and both J and I fell asleep. Around 5 a.m my contractions (which had stayed regular all night) were now coming at around five minutes apart. They checked me to see if I had dialted more and I was dialted to 4 cm so I called my mother and told her to get to the hospital in case it was soon. My mother arrived around 6:45 and my contractions had continued to intensify at this point. Around 7:30 I started having alot of pain in my lower back so they came in again and checked me and I was dialated to 5cm. At this point I also decided to have an epidural. My water broke a half hour later and my epidural stopped working shortly after. All of the anestheiologists were in c-Sections so I couldn't get an increase until after 9:30. I wasn't too disappointed because the pain at this point wasn't terrible. My contractions were more uncomftorable and alot of them were in my back rather than my stomach. At around around 9:00 I got the most intense contraction that I could feel in every inch my body. At this point the nurse returned to check me again. I was 9 cm, so they called my OB and told him to head to the hospital. She had me sit straight up and within a few minutes I had another intense one so she came in and checked me and I was at 10 cm. We began with practice pushes. I did two pushes and the baby was crowning. Not bad considering it took me almost two hours to do that last time..
I started to get extreme urges to push but I couldn't because my OB wasn't there yet. When the next contractions came I started to bear down and push slightly to help relieve some of the pressure. My OB walked in at that moment and began suiting up. He told me to start pushing slightly and he turned around to put on his gloves and overcoat. When the next contraction came I pushed hard and he told me to stop but my body wouldn't let me. Brooklyn's head was delivered and nobody was in front of me to turn her. Brooklyn turned herself and my OB urged me to not push because her cord was around her neck. He untangled her, told me to push and with that I delivered the rest of her with one large push. And with that, Brooklyn Ava was born..
I cried my eyes out when I saw her. She looked perfect.
I delivered the placenta only a few minutes later and Brooklyn went right to the breast after being weighed.
Jade came in while Brooklyn was nursing. She wanted to sit with me and talked to me about the baby nursing. She didn't get jealous at all and hasn't shown a slight sign of jealousy since.
Everything has gone perfect with this delivery and experience. I didn't tear at all, I didn't poop on the table, and the slight amount that I was bleeding is already starting to slow down. I am very happy with the birth. She is beautiful and nursing on demand (about every hour or so). My nipples are sore and I am still slightly crampy especially when she nurses but I feel great nonetheless. I had a lot of visitors. One was Annie.. that really made my night. She looked beautiful and seeing her made me realize how much I do miss her. Liz came by and visited as well as Raj, Nancy, and Amy. It was nice because my family respected my wishes this time and didn't swarm the hospital during the labor. It was quiet and everything I hoped for. Here are more pictures of the new addition... I was too into talking to Annie and catching up with her that I didn't get a picture of her and Brooklyn together. But hopefully she will be by this weekend and I will fix that. I am disappointed that I got no pictures of family with her so that too will change this weekend...
I will catch up with my friends list eventually. Thanks for all your well wishes.
