Every time I think my fandom is filled with asstards, I'm going to read this and this and think, y'know, it ain't that bad.

House: at least we're not Harry Potter.

I loved Cordelia! Angel was very good for her. By virtue of being the "adult" series, she was forced to grow up much more dramatically than the kids on BtVS. Her developmental arc (well, at least until she molested Connor)- to see her transform from the snotty cheerleader to reluctant hero, to actually being a hero - was simply amazing. Except for the Connor thing. And did I mention Connor? I liked the idea of Angel/Cordy, as well as Angel/Wes (in that desperate, idol-worship sort of way) and Angel/Spike (in that brutally-broken-in-when-he-was-first-turned way).

Do you watch (or download) Bones? It's awful. Awful. Terrible, really. But I can't stop watching because DB is so freaking adorable in it.

Buffy, S6 was when I first really leaped into fandom, followed by a quick scrambling back out, when the Buffy-bashing, Spike-apologista trend grew to wacky proportions. I mean, I adored both characters but they were both completely and utterly fucked up, and they did fucked up things - that was the point.

I loved S2 of Angel for the very same reasons. Existential wangst aside, the Darla arc was pure brilliance. One crappy thing happening after another. Bad decisions regarding greater and lesser evils. And ultimately, the despair and seemingly-utter futility of Angel's efforts to do the right thing. Discovering, in the end, no matter what you do, nothing matters anyway. IMO, that was the season of Joss' (or David Greenwalt's) brilliance.

If you haven't seen Profit, I'd highly recommend it as well. It's dated (about a decade old), but still simply evil. The protagonist is a complete sociopath, and the show itself is so very, very messed up and horribly fascinating. They released the complete DVD set of this show last year.

I love oldschool stuff, my first fandom was Mulder and Scully. Lol. Have you ever seen Profiler? I recently bought the box set for that. It was very dark, and I loved it.

Cordelia really did grow in Angel, and she just became so dynamic. Really gutsy and very 'real.' She would be the kind of girl I would want to know in real life. Buffy on the other hand... is a little bit too remote / self-involved.

For a while, I got into the Wes/Faith fandom, because that was very dark - though there wasn't much good stuff out there. When Wesley went down his more dark road, and Faith came back to help out with the 'end of the world' situation, and he was fucking her over (not literally) I thought there was great great potential there. Especially to explore personal ethics, and just how far a human being will sink during times of darkness.
