(no subject)
I am going through a major Tom Waits phase right now. HE IS SO GOOD.
Honestly all i want to do with my life is talk about music and read about music and listen to music every day all day. Whenever I have a real conversation with someone about music I just feel like we're on another plane, speaking another language & the conversation is like 10x more interesting than the majority of the conversations I have.
I was talkin to Laruen St. Earn today (who I love so fucking much) & she said something like 'yeah you music people, you guys are like another breed to me.' & its so true! There are certain people that really get it, like Aaron & Lance & little Jenny (the people I generally try to surround myself with), & somehow we kind of gravitate towards eachother. Like we don't even have to have the same taste...we just understand. The rest of you probably think I'm totally full of shit right now but I don't care. I love music.
Like my dad, I showed him some tom waits stuff & he knew all the jazz musicians that played in the CD & we were just talking & whenever I have a conversation with my dad about music I feel a lot closer to him. Its cool when I'm listening to the shit he used to listen to. Its especially cool when he gets really excited talking about a band or a genre he really likes...like jazz.
On another note, one of the best things i've heard in a while:
