Arthur apparated to the outer edges of Hogwart's Grounds, and walked up the path leading to the castle's main entrance. Filch opened the massive doors. "Ello, Mr. Weasley," he said. "What brings you to the castle?" "Just visiting with the Headmistress, Argus," Arthur said. He walked down the corridor to the Gargoyle, which jumped aside to reveal the stairs to Minerva's office. Arthur ascended the stairs, and rapped softly on the office door.
"Come in, Arthur," Minerva said, and gave him a sharp nod as he did. She was standing in front of fireplace hands clasped. She had been doing a lot of pacing but was perfectly still at the moment. "Shut the door, please. I hope Alastor will be here soon, but we can always bring him up to speed once he arrives."
"I'm not sure, Arthur," said Minerva. "I need to ask you something. Is Draco Malfoy the Death Eater who has been feeding you this information about Voldemort's plans?"
"Not necessarily to spy on the school,, Alastor. You-Know-Who ordered the transmitters be placed so he could listen in and hopefully gain useful information." Arthur leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "So far, Draco has provided us with useable information, mainly telling us of the transmitter that was with Neville. I believe he truly wants to help the Order, but I am still on my guard. We can't trust him right away, that trust must be earned."
"That is what Voldemort is after according to, Mr. Malfoy, or should we still call him B?" Minerva added. "He wants the school. IF we are giving, Malfoy the benefit of the doubt, I have to assume that telling us about the transmitters is to allow us to control the information going to the Death Eaters. Perhaps even provide false information.
"Tonks destroyed that first one, Alastor, and it's being replaced by four. My first impulse is to destroy those as well. But if they're merely replaced again, this time without our knowledge, it could lead to an even worse situation."
Alastor looked up at Arthur as if he was about to say something, then paused, looking for all the world as if he had just seen lightning strike in front of him.
"Draco Malfoy! Of course!" Alastor suddenly looked a good deal better, and far more satisfied with himself. The sudden realization of who he had seen with Lacy the other night came all at once.
"Arthur, when are you next goin' to have a meetin' with the lad? How do you arrange them? Never mind that, when you do have a meetin' with the lad, can you let me know so I can be there? No, that won't work either. Gotta do somethin' though..."
Alastor trailed off, momentarily lost in his own thoughts.
"We use coins, charmed to communicate with each other. We actually have a meeting set up for tomorrow evening, at Headquarters. I'm fine with you joining in on this one, Alastor. Can you be there around 8?"
