So I read 75 books this year for fun…I so do not include books read for work in this list! Of these, 27 were rereads. 12 of the books read were written by male authors so that means the remaining 63 were by female authors. In terms of substance, it was a light year of reading for me with a lot of easy reads and children’s literature mainly because I spent most of the year trying to escape from work, stress, and illness.

If I had to pick a favorite new-to-me read from 2012 I would say it’s a tie between Shadow and Bone (The Grisha #1) by Leigh Bardugo and The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater…both of them Young Adult Fantasy.

Hands down the worst book I read this year was Isle of Night (The Watchers #1) by Veronica Wolff. It is the WORST BOOK IN THE WORLD!

Most disappointing read was Iced (Dani O'Malley #1) by Karen Marie Moning. WAY TO RUIN A SERIES KMM!!!!!

Most fun to reread was probably the Little House series. I have reread The Long Winter in recent years but I hadn’t read the entire series straight through in ages. I just simply adore them. They are utterly charming no matter what your age.

Here is to good reading to all for 2013!

yearly reads, books
