my vacation was great. we ended up going to bali, komodo, rinca, flores, and hong kong. even though at times, i wasn't in ideal conditions (no hot water, ancient propeller aircraft, peeing in a field, dozens of mosquito bites, whatever), i think that i learned a lot from the experience. it was really quite different from anything i'd ever seen, and indonesia is just so gorgeous; i guess that's because so much of it has been untouched by human hands. i'm quite the cynic, and i was impressed continually by the amazing views everywhere. the sky is so clear at night that you could actually see thousands and thousands of stars and even the milky way. and there were so many wild animals everywhere! monkeys, bats, lizards, crocodiles, and even some komodo dragons. it was wow. however, it's sad to see that there is such terrible poverty in such a beautiful place.
