So, I haven't touched this in...forever. And a day.
I'm thinking of using it as a journal of sorts for my violent activities. So I can keep track of things I've learned, and what I need to work on, and general patterns in things.
Currently this includes Kung Fu and fencing. It will probably be more helpful for fencing, but tonight was a Kung Fu night.
We have a seminar coming up in a couple weeks with our instructor's instructor. I won't actually be able to make it, but we'll be working on things for it almost non stop until it happens. This particular seminar has a Tai Chi lean, and is all about Ba Gua (
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baguazhang). I honestly don't know too much about the philosphies and thought processes behind it. I know there are lots of 8s and circles involved. What we've been doing are called palm changes. They are kind of a moving meditation - walk in a circle, every X steps perform one of these palm changes, walk in the circle the other way. Do this for forever.
Today we covered 1, 2, 5, 7, and 8 (of 8). I wish that I could easily record what each entails, but 7 and 8 especially are a little complicated. Maybe I'll try that when it's not 10pm after two beers. They aren't super difficult to get the basics of, but they have a lot of little details that I'm sure we haven't even begun to look at.
The class was pretty physically easy over all. Most of our Tai Chi-ish classes are.
...Well, that was exciting, wasn't it? Thus ends my first attempt at keeping track of my violent exploits.
