So remember how I complained that my tomato starter pots from a kit molded? After I planted the seeds, I never watered them more because the soil was so wet already and I didn't want to help the mold. After a few days of the soil being way too wet, I gave up on them, figured the whole kit and seeds were a loss, and added new seeds and starter cups to my list of things to buy as soon as I can find the time. I had intended to try to pick out a few of the seeds and see if there was any chance I could get them to germinate under better conditions, but I wasn't expecting much success with that. It was a busy week and I didn't have time to go shopping, so the tomato cups (dried out and hard by now) just sat in the windowsill for 9 days while I ignored them.
Then one day, a 1-inch tall tomato sprout appeared! I thought I was hallucinating, but I came back a few hours later and it was still there, so I watered it and the rest of the cups. I now have 11 tomato sprouts and wouldn't be surprised to see a few more. I'm pretty shocked that they managed to grow under such bad conditions.
Everything else is doing quite well, except no news from the rosemary yet. The seed packet says 14-21 days for germination, so hopefully soon. Lots of radishes, lots of mesclun, lots of flowers, and the beans continue popping up. There will be beans ready to transplant outside as soon as I can get around to it. I need to get more dirt and plant the rest of my seeds. My plants are the awesomest!
