Just heard from the Thailand trip organizer. There were twenty-four people interviewed, and twelve spots. I'm about thirteen or fourteen on their list. Soooo close, but not quite.
He complimented me highly, told me that it was a hard decision, all the usual sort of stuff "let you down gently" stuff, but very nice to hear nevertheless.
So I might be going to Thailand if one of the people drops out or if the school opens up more spots. They should know in a few more weeks. Just have to wait and see.
I have a hunch I won't be going, but that's okay. There are lots of things here at home that I'd miss if I went, and I could probably benefit from not going into debt to make next year's tuition work. It would still be so cool to go though! I'll just have to go as a tourist someday, I guess. (And keep my fingers crossed for an opening in the next few weeks!)
