Bones
Okay, What. The. Hell. Was. That? No, really, I'd like to know what kind of crack they were smoking in the writer's room, because it had apparently gone horribly, terribly BAD. I cannot even fathom what the hell they were thinking.
The entire alternate universe bored me to tears. It made no sense for any of the characters to behave that way, nor for Brennan to ever imagine them behaving that way (that was all in her head, right? Because I couldn't be bothered to actually figure out what the hell was going on, nor why it was happening).
And then, just to add insult to injury, they toss in the tired old amnesia cliché. I mean, honestly, what IS THIS? GENERAL HOSPITAL? I wasn't exactly bowled over by this season, but that finale just soured me on all of it. I know that last season's finale didn't sit right with a lot of people, but in my opinion, that was a freakin' masterpiece compared to this travesty.
Glee
I loved this! I hadn't heard a thing about this before my flist started posting about it, but I'm so glad I decided to read
the_spin's review this morning, because now I've already got one show I'm looking forward to in the fall.
I already read about
the Popular connection before watching the episode, so it's possible that influenced me, but it reminded me so much of that show. (Oh, how I miss it. Come back to me, Mary Cherry!) The sarcasm levels were through the roof, and in my opinion, there's just no other way to deal with cheesy high school plots (which is why High School Musical did absolutely nothing for me).
When Emma was sterilizing her lunch table, I was thinking that she was a total whack job, but by the end of the episode, she had completely won me over. And of course I already 'ship her with Will (and did anyone else suspect that his wife was faking her pregnancy to get him to take a higher paying job? I mean, she had TWO glasses of champagne in her hands. What was up with that?).
Another character I was surprised to find myself liking by the end? Rachel. At first I pegged her for the stuck-up snobby bitch who's used to getting her own way, usually by sheer force of personality. But the combination of her outcastedness and her actual talent to back up her brashness just worked for me.
(Heh, I wonder if I got any of those names right. I'm so bad at remembering character names at the beginning of any new show.)
Yay, I'm so excited for the fall season now!
