Life and life

So, the main reason I've been largely absent since late spring is because of MTV, which is a new client of ours that I'm largely responsible for. Not for translating, but for coordinating translations for four languages. During the summer, things were trucking along, but then September hit and the fit really hit the shan.

And now we've added Nickelodeon for all four languages and Comedy Central for Sweden and I feel like I'm buckling under the pressure.

But at least the addition of Comedy Central means I could start watching Californication or Monk since we're translating them. Also, The Office (US). So woohoo? Also, The Daily Show. But that one is going to be a nightmare, I'm almost positive.

Life
In some ways, it feels like "Life Lite! Now with less calories!" You know?

I'm not sure what the hell is going on with Reese, but the characterization of her feels very shallow. There was only the hint of repression in the season premiere when she told Crews that she didn't want to talk about her father, and since then she's just skipping along merrily, apparently having forgotten all about her drug issues and daddy issues and whatnot.

Which is really a shame, because it would make this inexplicable thing with Tidwell (is that his name?) make a modicum of sense. Dani being her self-destructive self, hooking up with a inveterate womanizer and cheater? That I understand. Her actually liking him? Not so much.

Despite this stumbling block, it's still one of my favorites, and a show I watch as soon as I can, along with HIMYM, The Office and a few select others.

How I Met Your Mother
Am I the only one who's relieved about what they're doing with Robin/Barney? The only reason I can see for hooking them up at the beginning of the season is to get the storyline out of the way, i.e. break them up almost immediately.

That said, I'm horrified by the hints we're getting that Robin and Ted might get back together. Do. Not. Want! Not only do we already KNOW that they're not going to end up together, making it an exercise in futility, we've already had an entire season of this fruitlessness, isn't that enough?

I wonder what they'll do about Alyson Hannigan's pregnancy? I'm guessing it'll be written into the show, the only question is if the writers were happy about taking it there so soon? It seems the whole show is based in that undefineable time when you've just settled into a successful career, but before you settle down to a family life. Will it work? I hope it does.

The Office
I'm getting a bit bored. Seriously, I don't really like Michael and all it's been this season is Michael, Michael, Michael. Can someone else have a turn now? Anyone else.

Fringe
I'm still watching, but I have no sense of urgency about it, and the main reason I do watch is because it's something I don't care all that much about and it's good to use as background noise while I do something else. Like work. Or eat.

However, I do feel it's improving somewhat, so there's that?

My Own Worst Enemy
I'm enjoying this so far. Christian Slater stored up a lot of goodwill with Heathers, and the premise is intriguing. Okay, intriguing might be a bit strong, but it's mindless fun for now.

And I can already see a season finale where Henry finds out that the organization he's working for is actually sinister, and season 2 being all about him and Edward slowly coming to agreement that they must bring it down. SD-6: Redux.

Pushing Daisies
This show still makes me happy. And I think it helped to cap season 1 before the new season started, because I'm much less exasperated by Ned and his singlemindedness concerning Chuck. Also, I love that Emerson got a storyline, and that Olive's left the convent (even if the habit was pretty).

It's also the only show I ever feel the urge to picspam. Except I don't, because work is sucking up all the energy I have right now. I so need a vacation...

The Amazing Race
The only strong emotion I have so far is that I HATE the divorcees. I haven't seen such immaturity since middle school. Every time Nick and Starr beat them at anything I laugh and laugh and laugh.
