Ugh

Oct 09, 2008 22:10

After a few months of not complete and utter horror, I thought that 2008 might make a comeback and not turn out quite as atrocious as I thought it would be. Well, I guess it was just saving up for this past week, because I can now officially say that 2008 is just a huge ball of SUCK.

I am so ready for this year to be over.

TTTW: I must be a romantic or something because I sobbed at the ending. I really want to see how the movie translates the whole time-traveling thing.

And PR? I stopped watching it after a few episodes, but having three women at the end should be interesting...

For me it wasn't so much romantic as it was pathetic. Though I agree, the time-traveling thing will be interesting to see how they do.

I know a lot of people have been complaining about this season, but I've had one contestant I really liked (Leanne) and one I loved to hate (Kenley), so I have been moderately pleased with it.

There you are! I'm sorry things are sucking. I can relate. Bring on 2009.

Totally agree with you on Kenley, especially her incredibly annoying, whiny, nasally voice. Gah!

Bring on 2009.
Here, here!

Oh god, that voice is going to give me nightmares! And now we have to listen to it for one more episode! Since she's not going to win anyway (I mean, she just can't, right?), couldn't they at least have spared us that much?

Sorry to hear that this week has been crappy for you. At least the year's almost over?

If McCain/Palin somehow weasel their way in because 51% of my fellow Americans are deluded, I don't think that's what the other 49% of us deserve. We're *trying*. We just unfortunately live in a country full of people who suck.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who hated the end of TTTW. We're talking flames on the side of my face. It retroactively tainted the parts of the book I did enjoy.

I'm with you on Leanne. I love some of the stuff Korto did during the year, but I wasn't impressed with the wedding dress. And Kenley's everything you said. Gah. Should have known that her drama-bringing self would be in the top three, merit or no.

I think the tough part is that "America as a whole" is kinda a myth and imo always has been. If the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region seceded, I'd be perfectly happy. America's got the whole patchwork-of-states thing as well as the urban vs rural thing that damages any attempt at cohesion.

The Republicans are deluded and use the politics of fear to rile up their followers (hence all the erosion of our civil liberties in the name of "terror"). At least the numbers are finally starting to go in the right direction...Obama had better not screw this up.

Kenley is stunningly unoriginal. That, if nothing else, will be her downfall.

I understand your sentiment, but I really, really, REALLY don't think I deserve McCain/Palin if they happen to be elected. Their supporters (and those who don't choose to vote) most definitely do.

But as for your thoughts on McCain and Palin? EXACTLY. I honestly didn't think anyone could come up with a politician who made me headdesk repeatedly more than I do whenever GWB speaks. But they did. She is just astonishing in the truest sense.

I understand where you're coming from, but from an outsider's point of view, if a country has seen its politicians run it into the ground for eight years and still elect to continue in the same vein, I can't say that any and all repercussions it brings aren't deserved ( ... )
