movies, mayhem & miscellanea

I just changed my default icon. Now, for some, that's not a big thing, but I rarely change it. I'd had the one I replaced for something like two years, and the one before that for at least one. The reason I change them so rarely is because I have to really like the icon. I don't think I've ever had a default that I haven't already had in use for at ( Read more... )

OH MAN BLADES OF GLORY. Jenna/Will/Amy totally made that movie for me. Stranz and Fairchild!

Yes, I am definitely going to have to cap this one (Jenna is so preeeetty in it. I'm so used to seeing her as mousy Pam, but here she's mousy in a completely different way - with great hair!).

As a big fan of anime (but one who has been unable to get into Avatar), I hope Avatar does get you invested in animated characters ( ... )

I think it's pretty much a lost cause for me, at least in general. I was thinking about why and came to the conclusion that it's probably the perfection of it. In animation there's no room for error, and even when overacting gets to be annoying (Hermione Granger, anyone?), it's still preferable to the bland perfection of a character that never gets it wrong. In short, I need to see an actor's face.

I'm not sure yet if it's too depressing (I will watch all of season 1 before deciding whether or not to continue), but TV for me is, by and large, a means of escape. I want to be transported into another world for an hour or so, but to inhabit this world for any length of time? Yeah, I just don't know that I want to do that ( ... )

Well, there's also some really shoddy animation out there... haha. But that also makes sense -- there are certain things that actors can convey that can't be done the same way with animation ( ... )

(and also, feel free to punch me in the face if I'm being too annoying with my Oz love)

So I better not link to any of George W.'s press statements or I may get deleted because I am pretty sure he has violated LJ's TOS. :-p

This really is getting beyond ridiculous now. Thanks for linking to those two posts/threads. The anorexia one in particular? *shakes head*

Heh, yeah, I'm pretty sure he'd be in violation of any TOS.

At this point I'm so disgusted by the people behind LJ is not even funny. They need to hire a good PR spokesman and NEVER EVER talk to the users again. Seriously, everything should go through a mouthpiece from now on.

On the TV front, I watched the pilot of Oz, and wow, it was even more depressing than I remembered. I mean, I recognize that it's a quality show, I just don't know if it's a quality show that's for me.

Heh, yeah. I watched the pilot and went "nuh-uh". No interest in watching something that depressing.

I'm gonna stick it out for the first season seeing as how I own the DVDs and all, but if the way I view the show doesn't change in that time I'll probably give it up.
