I'm having just a bitch of a time trying to figure out what the Late Night announcer says in this clip (sendspace link, 4MB)Honestly, I've been trying to listen to it all weekend and I can't for the life of me figure out what he's saying and I'm at my wit's end. I even learned how to clip a video file just to be able to upload the 14 second segment

I haven't posted about the latest VM episode because I'm spoiled and I don't really feel comfortable posting when I know how easy it is to let your feelings on spoilers influence your reactions.

If I post I'll be sure to mention my spoiled status again, and I do think that the things I have to say are solely about the episode, but I've been subjected to too many biased posts to ever think that you can be truly unbiased once you're spoiled.

Oh man, sometimes it's just impossible to hear and that theater they're in does not work very well for TV, the acoustics are TOO good.

I wish I could help you out with that clip. I can only make out "From San Francisco, home of ??chemical???cab and ?????, ??????one else?, it's Late Night with Conan O'Brian!" I can definitely see how this would be frustrating. Stupid announcers that cannot enunciate properly. *shakes fists*

Thanks, I haven't heard the "chemical" part. Time to go back for another listen I think!

The announcer is usually not that hard to hear, but the acoustics of that theater are horrible for TV broadcasts, I can't imagine why they chose it.

Yeah, probably. But I think I got it now. It's funny, though, because even though I know what he supposedly says, I still can't hear it correctly because I think the inflection is all wrong.

That's about as far as I got too. Except I hear an "and" too. But I may just be imagining it.

Definitely "home of medical cannabis and" ... that's where I lose it. It's four syllables that sounds vaguely like "a hit what else", but that doesn't make a lot of sense. "a hip wood elf"?

Would "and I forget what else" (as the commenter below suggested) work?

It makes sense, but I don't think it fits. I forget what else is five syllables and I'm pretty sure there's only four.
