I'm translating Martha (BTW, not exactly a good interviewer. She should stick to what she knows. Or, you know, at least listen to what the person she's interviewing is saying) and they have penguins on (SO CUUUUUTE!) and it reminded me of that old brain-teaser:
A hunter is talking about his latest hunting trip and is telling everyone about how he came thiiiiis close to bagging a penguin, but at the last second a polar bear came and snatched it away. One person calls out: "Bullshit!" How can he be so sure the hunter's story is false?
Polar bears live at the North Pole, penguins live at the South Pole.
It also reminded me of a book of brain-teasers my parents own (I have to borrow that book sometime). Here are a couple that I remember:
There's a three-volume encyclopedia on a shelf. The pages of each volume are 1 inch thick and the covers are half an inch total per volume (so a quarter inch for the front cover and a quarter inch for the back). If a bookworm was to eat his way from the first page of the first volume to the last page of the last volume, how many inches worth would he have to eat?
2 inches.
A prison inmate spends his free time collecting cigarette butts. For every 10 butts he finds he can make a whole new cigarette. One day he collects a whopping 100 butts from the yard. How many cigarettes does he get to smoke that day?
11. Ten cigarettes from the 100 butts he collected and then one cigarette from the ten butts left over from the ones he smoked.
Anyone got any old standbys? I loooove brain-teasers.

I finished capping season 1 of The West Wing (only six more to go - woohoo!) and I also set up another directory for my caps for US sitcoms (Arrested Development, Friends and Sports Night. And I might add some Scrubs to the mix at some point). Also, I uploaded almost all my movie caps (I thought I was done, but it turns out I've got six more movies capped. Who knew?)
