getting hands dirty, very literally (:

I haven't had so much fun in ages! (:

Early yesterday morning, I went to my grandmother's house to make dumplings!

I'm not photogenic, but my grandma certainly is!

And the finished uncooked products!

I realised how ungreat I am at wrapping the dumplings. Its like my grandma just press and press and they turn into shape and mine, after many pressings, still burst out in some silly unglam fashion, like these ): Small ones made by my grandma and those that fan out awkwardly, made by yours truly D:

At least they are edible, because I didn't make the fillings, she did :D

And my lunch, which was a result of many honest accidents hehe -.-

And it was very very fun, because I've never liked to cook due to me seeing the stove burst into flames when I was a kid. But getting lots of flour on you is kinda funny, and using the dumpling molds that my dad bought back from china. For the record, we only made 2 dumplings with the molds, kinda gave up after that and we continued to do it the traditional way. But playing with flour prepared me for whatever was to come later in the afternoon :D

I rushed down to the bus stop to take 174 to Boon Lay interchange at around 1plus but the bus took a super long time to come, hey but I reached around 2, only for TSY to tell me that cherry was cleaning up in the toilet xD Then we tried to find our way to Frontier CC, based on someone's *ahem* directions that it was in the same building as Jurong Medical Centre. SO we made our way to JMC, only to wonder why this building doesn't have a 4th floor. We took the lift anyhow :P, lift opened at the 3rd floor, lots of medical staff stared at us, we retreated into the lift and made our way down! How malu-ating!!! So after arguing about how we should find another lift that takes us to the 4th floor, pear suddenly pointed to this map situated in the entrance of JMC that shows frontier cc at the other side, same building as the LIBRARY! xD Can you imagine our very very sudden urge to whack someone on the head?

:D We were put to work as soon as we reached. Had to spread the cloth sheets on the table to prevent clay from getting onto any other surfaces except for our surface. (We realised the kids DON'T CARE anyway, because they took the clay to every imaginable place to play with it. After setting up, we moved clay around, learnt to cut the clay and to apportion it for the participants. Another learning point, don't don't don't give too much clay to kids who keep asking for more! And YY taught us how to make clay faces, for us to stick onto the clay blocks in the centre, which was pretty much what we had to do.

Pear and cherry sticking on the faces!

But after all the effort of sticking on the faces and fusing them, many of them probably fell out (or the noses got squashed) in the end because the boss placed the blocks horizontal and some of the faces didn't like the idea of defying gravity much ): Anyway, we were sticking on the faces before the event started (anyone knows what event it is anyway??) but then later me and janice got to set up our booth at the left side!

Alright, my darling partner who didn't proclaim me as a best friend cos I had no food on me D: and our apron that pear thinks its cute heehee

Yay, janice demo-ing for me. This was before I could find a clay face style :P and this was before the kids crowd over, so I have time to be trigger happy (:

I swear janice has some obsession with cheekopehs! LOOK don't they look like cheekopehs to you?

And then people started coming! First it was lots of volunteers whom we taught, hope they didn't squeeze the clay too much. I'm actually kinda worried I did some squeezing >< These volunteers are totally face-making machines la. Too bad my hands were too dirty to take pictures of them setting up their factory beside me hurhur. But they were great too, cos they helped to teach the kids, which were untold terrors turned upon us by their non-existent parents!

One of the volunteers helping the kids. t_t Kinda sad we're so busy that we didn't even have time to ask them for their names. Hey TSY is that the little girl who doesn't understand english, chinese, everything? I vaguely remember me making a face for a very small kid, janice too.

:D The girl in white is our angel! She herself made so so many faces, and when I gave her a big piece, she told me she can do it with the small one. The amusing thing was, she probably wrote "I Love Singapore" on every piece that she made. LOL! I was kinda surprised, but hey kinda proud as well. Some of the kids are already so apathetic lor, shouldn't be the case now! The boy in the striped shirt also kept coming back for more clay, not to make clay faces of course. Just come back to generally take space and disturb us. AND HIS NAME IS NICHOLAS.

Roy, who insisted I take a photo of him. :P The girl in pink is our little terror, whom Janice thinks is rude. I haven't dealt with a lot of kids before, I have no idea if they are rude... If they are rude, sometimes I'm ruder back :X

Roy again, but this picture is for you people to have a clearer look at the girl who terrorised me and janice at this table. She just takes the clay from us, flattens it into a pancake, rolls it up, does it again. Then she takes our ice-cream sticks and tries to cut the very dried clay, telling me she's cutting up bread. And there's more, because her clay is now dry, she attempts to make it wet again with lots of water!! Then when she's done mutilating the clay, she asks for more! T_T HAHA, and janice tried to explain no you're not supposed to do this in english, which we realised after that its not very effective because she understands chinese better. SIGH we are like so angmoh pai can?

A clearer look at the above picture seems to show one thing.. ROY IS FLATTENING HIS CLAY LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS! Meh. On second looks too, this boy looks like my p4 cousin.

TSY's ahpo face on close up!

AND I WILL NOT BE OUTDONE!
Isn't this the cutest thing everrrr??!! :D Ok lah, thereafter, everything I made turned out to have some resemblance to this. Too bad I didn't take photos of the rest of them T_T I made emo girls, emo guys, and emo not sure whether is guy or girl, but still look cute. And they didn't have mouths! But some people went to add them ))< Hello kitty nice what.. why add mouths? ):

And I didn't take any of pear's, jennifer's and cherry's. ):

Here's some more faces. There are two of my disgusting creations up there XD

Right, oops, sorry for accidentally catching my boss on the cam... but I THINK I CAN SEE ONE OF PEAR'S CROWN THINGYS... there there in the background! Which spells out my trigger happy moments...

Then we have to bitch about the %^#$@ things that happened to all of us! The kids called us AUNTIE can.. walau. Then I joked if he called me auntie again, I won't give him clay. AND HURHUR there was this little little girl, the one that TSY was playing with (or ahem bending to her will) who called janice auntie for so long lah.. and janice didn't hear. So I told her to call jiejie, then we will respond. XD I only realised she was calling us when she got loud and kinda pissed. Our table kinda got flooded, because of something that leaked. Didn't really catch what happened, but it was so so gross! We had to move our bags all over the place, and because it got flooded the boards, clay etc all got wet. Lucky the clay was wrapped in plastic if not that will be so disgusting.

Our dinner later was at Sakae. Really appreciate what the boss did for us :D treating us to dinner at 9plus? Although Sakae food sucks but hey, its the thought that counts ^^

life, things that make me (:, holiday - work
