RENT, job, stuff

Howdy ya'll! I hope everything's great with you. I figured that since I haven't updated in about a month, I would do so now. Easter weekend Nathan and I went to Chicago to see RENT and hang out and stuff. It was fabulous. I'll admit it, I was a little worried about driving in Chicago, especially when we found out that the Dan Ryan Expressway was closed, but we took Lakeshore Blvd. and passed our exit, I drove us through the city for a while (Nathan's grandpa gave us a map, but it was so old it didn't even have the street we were driving on on it, but it's okay because it's the thought that counts), almost hit some Asian tourists, and then we safely arrived at our destination! Just call me Christopher Columbus (or some other famous navigator/explorer). We our stuff to our hotel room and decided to try to find the Sears Tower, which really shouldn't have been that hard since it was only four blocks from our hotel, not to mention humongous, but I got us lost, we got followed by a gang of scary pigeons, and ended up back at the hotel. We decided to go make reservations for dinner at the hotel's restaurant and then just ended up eating as soon as we got there. On our way to the restaurant we ran in to Kate, Susan, and Alison, just leaving RENT. We chatted it up and went to the restaurant, 312 Chicago. It was ridiculously expensive and we were so out of place. They served stuff like fried octopus and buffalo milk soup (not even kidding). We kind of wanted to leave, but felt awkward doing it, so we stayed. Nathan had crab meat spaghetti and I had rigatoni with veal meatballs. I felt awful eating baby cows, but it turns out they really are delicious. Susan, Kate, and Alison showed up, got seated, and then decided to leave. Bitches. After dinner we went back to the room and rather than brave the mean streets of Chicago again, we took a nap. We woke up, got dressed up, and went right next door to see RENT. It was absolutely amazing. The girl who played Mimi had a really deep, manly voice and they guy who played Angel didn't go for a lot of the high notes like the original Broadway Angel did, but he was so active and nimble that he made up for it. The guy who played Roger was awesome and this lady who was in the chorus part (but who sang the part in 'Seasons of Love' that Joanne sang in the movie) was the most amazing. She actually brought me to tears. During intermission when Nathan was in the bathroom I was sitting on this bench and the most fabulous gay boy came and sat beside me. He was really tan with light blond hair and was really tall and skinny. He had on a fabulous outfit and I wanted to tell him I liked it, but I felt crazy saying it, so we just smiled at each other and sat awkwardly until Nathan was done peeing. After RENT we went back to the hotel because I didn't want to wander around Chicago at night, plus we were pretty tired, so we went to bed. In the morning we stopped at Dunkin' Donuts and got breakfast and drove back to Crawfordsville. I dropped Nathan off and drove to Ridge Farm to be with my family and that's my story! Bottom line: it was fun, go see RENT, it's wonderful.

Now, onto the job thing. So, Denise left Maurices, big changes, all that jazz. I've been promoted to a part-time-night-manager-whatever-thingy (I don't remember all the names), and even though there are all these big changes, it still doesn't change the fact that I don't like selling shizz to people. I love the girls I work with, but I don't like what I do. I have an interview with Florida Tan Centre tomorrow (which I'm skipping class to go to-we can see where my priorities lie) and if I get offered a job there, assuming the pay is okay, my hours will be okay, all that stuff, I'll probably take it. I'm already stressing out about putting my two-weeks notice in at Maurices because everyone's going to be really upset about it, but I can't just stay there because I feel bad. I guess we'll see what happens there, though.

I think that about covers all the stuff I wanted to go in to. I work every night until next Thursday, so that's the poopness, but oh well. It'll be a biiiig paycheck. Hope you all are having great weeks, have fun in your last week before finals, and I love you all!
