Tonight I played guardian with my mother again and it escalated to a whole new level.

After enough heated debate for a while, I made it clear where I stand on her drinking.

First I grabbed one of her beers and started to drink it in front of her. To show her how nice it is to see a loved one with alcohol.

Then I took her case of Coors Light and poured it down the drain. All of it.

Now I've basically cut myself off in my room, with stuff blocking off my door and everything, so that she can't come in.

I mean I think it's as ridiculous as anyone else that I have to resort to these means to get the point across but if this is what I have to do, fuck it.

I'm tired of this, she's a grown woman and shes going to start acting like one. First step, taking responsibility for herself.

But before anyone gets worried about me, I'd like to say that I'm fine. In fact I feel good about myself. I finally did it, I made a stand that will possibly make the impact I've wanted.

So now she knows how it is. If she's drunk, don't try to talk to me. If she still does, I'm leaving. If she's sober, we'll talk and get along. Like a mother and son should.

Look I know a lot of your parents drink too but dammit I'm tired of coming home to a mom yelling about the world and how it's done her wrong. Always acting like the victim all the while dumping all of her emotions on me.

I don't think I'm being unfair, I've been there for her every time this happens. But I'm fucking 20 and I'm hiding in my room like a god damn middle schooler. It's fucking ridiculous. This is it, I've had it. I will care for my sober mother but not my drunk belligerent roommate that makes my life that much harder.
