If there is any experience more frustrating, annoying, and infuriating than car buying, I hope I never have to go through it. I friggin hate this. Stoopid cars ( Read more... )

FInd out what credit unions are in the area. You might have to open a savings or checking account with them, but just think of it as a safety net in case your WM account goes down (that's my philosophy at least....) Credit Unions offer better rates and in most cases have more understand of the citizens plight than a major national bank does. The other place to look is local banks. They might not be able to give as much, but they will most likely have lower rates.

All of this of course depends on your credit history, if you have your own home or are renting a place, and also how long you've been with your job. So many things to think about, I know.

What kind of car are you thinking about? We have to set our bar up high.... go for the WRX!!

Yeah, I got ahold of the Oregon Community CU, and they said that they will do a person-to-person (private party, not through a dealership) loan. I'm stoked. I'm looking at Honda Accords and Civics. I don't have the urge/money to go for the Subaru right now. My next car maybe...

Oh, and I found one I want thats still for sale, an Accord with only 68K miles going for $8500!

i <3 my accord. it's 13 years old and still doing pretty well. The transmission is dying, but after 4 years of taking the pass 8+ times a year, I think that's understandable. It's help up great otherwise :D

Yea, credit unions are great places. Too bad our financial and banking system has come to needing separate banks just for normal people to feel like they are getting the things they need. But that's a personal opinion.

I've thought about the honda situation, but I just don't know if I can give up the power that you get in the jetta, gti, or wrx for something reliable like the honda civic or accord. Just don't know if I can bring myself to do it.

Have fun car hunting!!
