i swear i had something to say...

i had one of those thoughts, earlier, the kind that makes me want to pick apart my feelings on a topic in public and request the pleasure of your commentary. and then i failed to act upon this urge immediately and like a dream interrupted by the sounds of a cat getting sick, it evaporated in the instant of distraction, action, and reaction. of ( Read more... )

Oh man... I've wanted to do a tri. I have some problems. I dislike running, and I don't know how to swim. I'll put that on my bucket list.

Also: Bar Camp. I need to make it to one of those. I see it come and go each year. I'm kind of tangential to that universe, but I think I could learn a lot and add a lot to the conversations. (I'm an RF engineer, not an IT/IS/Programmer)

triathlons are easy, once you can swim. i never got formal instruction (after age 7), but just started going to the pool at the gym and worked up to 1.5x the distance i'd have to swim in a race and then just did it...and it was fine ( ... )

My last cat lived to be 20 or so. It was the cat I got when I was 6. She may have been 21. Point is: She was ancient in cat years.

For whatever it's worth, my mom's last two cats both lived to be over 18. So I suspect she has a long life ahead of her - just be aware of changes in behavior. One of those cats had well-managed diabetes for the last 3 years of his life.

hey, Ariel lived to be 16. :)

I think you should con one of your roommates into doing a tri, one who will make you train with them so you are forced to train. or, admit that you can do tri's without training and just don't worry about it. OR, admit that you're not gonna PR this one and stick with mmmmbobo to encourage her to a PR. (knowing that it's her first tri :P)

personally I am quite jealous...am up to all of 2 miles today, and signed up for a half-mary on the 29th which I will almost certainly have to DNS. :( :(

well, she's not doing it due to sickness but it also wouldn't be her first tri...just her first in a couple years. none of my roomies are tri-type people (gratuitous workouts). and i'm just looking to finish, not PR. if i start, i'll finish. if i don't start, well, i'll get to sleep in?

i'll have no trouble waking up--just might have trouble *getting* up. send some good thoughts my way around 7am tomorrow (fortunately race start is 9:15 so i don't have to get up at 4 or anything).
