Here are two poems I wrote a few weeks ago.
More to come, I'm supposed to write two a week, so I plan to post all of those.
One is about spring time, the other is about an abortion, which, fortunantly, I have never experianced first hand. I had a friend of mine in mind when I wrote the poem, so it's for her. The "we" isn't in there because I was somehow involved, it's there to represent kind of a unity in the form of body all women share, and it's just interesting. Here they are!
For Her
Is there a light somewhere within?
Is there a heart waiting to beat?
Is there a smile somewhere we need to meet?
Is there a breath waiting to gasp?
Is there a way to forget what happened so fast?
Will they plunge through and mangle this mistake we must strangle and wash away what’s left over?
Will they bend, crack and break this accident we’re taking back?
Will they leave us empty and broken as calm words are spoken of how it’s for the best?
No, there is no light in us now; no heart waiting to beat.
But I’ll hold you safe in my love, and they will never rip that away.
Springtime
Peak out the window,
Lift up the blind,
Look who's smiling through, tender and kind.
Cut through the drab,
Burst past the cold,
Who's there to warm us when winter’s grown old?
Open our eyes,
Reach out your arms,
Melt away the sleeping spell with your sunlit charm.
Breathe us in,
We'll breathe you out,
Fill us back up with bliss from your joyful spout.
Turn on the color,
Rush back the heat,
Enfold us in your enchanting flowers as we greet.
Dance with us,
Delight us with your grassy skin,
Stay with us, sweet Springtime, until summer comes again.
