The Bear And Bird Are Back

I'm having a blast playing the latest video game on my "must play" list...

* Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Xbox 360 Video Game, November 2008, Microsoft)

The Banjo games on Nintendo 64 were like 10 years ago, and they were "collect-a-thons". But they were among the favorite games that My Lovely Wife and I played together. (Oh, the joy we'd have finding that one last note hidden behind Mumbo's hut!) Fast forward to 2008. The latest Banjo title has the Bear roaming an open world with a variety of challenges. Banjo overcomes these challenges by customizing vehicles. You're thinking, HUH? Yeah, Banjo:N&B is more like a super approachable version of Grand Theft Auto than an Action-Adventure game. A bit of both, really. It's possible to play the entire game using the 'default' vehicles, but I've been sucked into the game with the ability to tweak my car... or plane... or helicopter... or boat. I get so close to accomplishing a challenge and fail, so I redesign the vehicle to give myself a bit more advantage. Banjo N&B is an Action-Adventure game that needs both "noggin" and "twitch", so I'm all over it. With so many games awaiting my attention, it's amazing that Banjo has maintained my interest for this long. Particularly impressive when you know my attention span. =)
