So today I found out that I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Celiac Disease.

Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disorder, basically my immune system is attacking my thyroid gland and it can lead to hypothyroidism. With Celiac Disease, my body is damaging my intestinal villi (those little shaggy things in the small intestine that allow nutrients to be ( Read more... )

Don't you hate that? That is exactly how I felt, every doctors appointment that I went to from the time I was a teenager on, I'd tell them that I'm almost positive something is wrong with me, I'm always so tired, I can't remember things very well, and I just feel kind of sick and generally lethargic alot. And they would do the regular physical blood tests for anemia, and the basic thyroid tests, which would always come back perfectly normal. So for a long time there, I kind of thought maybe there wasn't something wrong with me and it's normal to feel this way. I even thought when I saw the naturopath that she wouldn't find anything wrong with me because nobody else did, so why should she? But when she went over all of the bloodwork she did with me it was all there, I wasn't absorbing protein, my red blood cells were misshapen, my microsomal TPO levels were off the charts (which is the extra test she did for my thyroid in the bloodwork, I still think it's crazy how the rest of my thyroid levels are so normal, but this one is waaaaay high) - So there was the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.

She also ran a celiac panel on me because I have quite a bit of symptoms of that; fatigue, where i carried my extra weight, my skin problems, depression, anxiety, my secondary infertility for a little under a year, bowel issues, ect. (and the celiac disease is the reason for the Hashimoto's, the misshapen RBCs, and the fact that my body wasn't absorbing the protein and other nutrients) and that test came out pretty high too.

Wow, I'm so sorry that I rambled. But the point of this was, if you aren't too against it, you should see a naturopath, I really hope you can find a diagnosis. And I hope it's not celiac disease so you can keep eating yummy cookies and cake, mmmmmmmmm. :)
