My bf was up late last night playing Paranoia online, so I had to comfort myself with the FFX (since I had to work today, I couldn't stay up and play as well :-( ). It seems nice, though I'm almost fed up with the cutscenes that seem to pop up every time I take a step. The story is vaguely interesting though, so I'll keep playing a while more. If nothing else, the graphics are amazing.
As for today's title, I was thinking about
Magic the Gathering. Seldom have people seemed so chocked as when they find out that I play Magic. I met a couple of kids playing at Armageddon, a local place where gamers hang out, and when I asked if I could join them for a game they stared at me like I'd just grown an extra head.
A female friend of mine entered the MTG-room at a convention a couple of years ago. As she walked in, a guy ducked behind a friend and hissed
"You promised there wouldn't be any girls here!"
I shit you not. What's the big deal?
Personally I prefer to play quick decks that packs a punch and gives me plenty of choices and possibilities. A two-color deck with white for defence and either black or red swarms of tiny creatures works fine, but it's a big risk that the opponent will kill off all your pests much too quickly (it's a wonder goblins have time to procreate, with that short lifespan). My absolute favourite is white/red with lots of bolts and blasts, letting me kill off all enemy creatures and then start working on my opponent himself (well, not necessary in that order). Of course, I abhore meeting blue opponents.
"Volcanic Hammer!"
"Boomerang."
"Flame burst!"
"Counterspell."
"Lava Dart?"
"Another Boomerang."
Hopeless.
Now it's off for some food and a hot shower, before parking my butt in front of the FFX again. Perhaps this time I'll actually get some PLAYING done, and not only sit there staring at all the pretty cutscenes.
