As your mod, it is my duty to pass on information that may affect you. Many LJ users are planning a 24 hour strike on 21 March as the new LiveJournal owners have recently made some changes to LiveJournal that many existing users do not agree with. This includes:
* Free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board. There was no announcement, users found out for themselves.
* LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions. (read the post
here).
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Again, users found out for themselves.
If you do wish to support the strike (it is YOUR choice - as mod, I will not take any action if you do or do not), you do it by NOT posting or commenting on LJ for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT on March 21.
You can read more about the strike

This has also been posted to your sister community,
_bloompreg I would like this comm to support the strike and am proposing that the mods put in place 'moderated posting' so that no new posts make it through until the strike is over. This would only last as long as the strike and normal posting would be restored the moment the strike ends. However, I don't want to do something that the majority of members are uncomfortable with so, I will act on the results of this poll:
