Dax:In the City

Dax left the Cage Room quickly, feeling his head clearing as he walked away, the farther he got, the better he felt. His guilt was eating through him, and the only thing he could think of right now was getting out, getting away from it for a while. He was just to the gate when someone popped in through the doors and came up towards the gate, "Can I ( Read more... )

Dax made his way first down Cable, the street the Mall faced, then turned onto Tory which would take him all the way through Sector 14 to Sector 7 to the Public Works drop off. It was a quick walk, his long legs carried him there faster, and when he arrived he caught a kid just about to take off, tossing his bag of trash into the cart attached to the back of his bicycle. Dax handed him one of the pieces of jewelry he'd taken from the Chosen compound, making a deal with him to carry any trash Dax brought for the next 6 weeks in trade. He wandered back down Tory to Courtenay, past his old haunt, the Casino, stopping in to say hello to the Bartender, to shoot the breeze and thank him for the offer of his job back but politely declining. He didn't go into where he'd been recently, or what he was doing now, just told him he'd gotten himself a pretty nice job as bodyguard, and that was all. Dax declined the drink, even though it was on the house and offered the bartender a handshake, promising to come back soon and have a drink or two.

Dax left and wandered over to Dixon to the Market and browsed through, keeping his eyes and ears open. He stopped at a stall of clothes and browsed, the girl behind the table handed him a mirror and motioned to his face. His makeup had been...worn off in the night, smeared and smudged, he was a guy, he hadn't even thought about such things, his habit and routine was different now, and staring at May's cute little backside had been a lot more entertaining than his usual morning routine. Dax just shrugged and handed her the mirror, laughing when she asked if he was in a fight, shaking his head and telling her it'd just been a few days since he'd had a proper place to fix himself up. She offered to trade what clothes he had on for anything he found and he smiled, it was a nice offer, he really only needed a new shirt. Dax pulled out a short sleeved black tshirt, "Here just this will do," he said, pulling his sash and jacket off before taking his shirt off right there and handing to to the girl before pulling the short sleeved black shirt on in it's place. He tucked it into his pants, put the clear jacket and black sash back on and thanked her before walking away.

Dax smirked as he walked away, feeling only slightly self conscious about his Tribal markings, he'd have to reapply when he got back to the Mall, maybe May would have some stuff he could use, he certainly didn't have anything anymore, and he didn't know if he had anything low enough in value to trade for stuff in the market. He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked along, glancing at things, checking out the junk people traded, stopping for a moment at a booth. Something had caught his eye, had reminded him of things May had said, and he smiled, maybe it was too much, but it didn't really matter, he had more than enough to trade, and along with this item and a few things of makeup it'd be a fair trade. Dax thanked the Trader and picked up his things, he never thought he'd find anything good enough to trade that particular ring for, but May was worth so much more, he just hoped it would make her happy.

Dax shifted the things in his hands, he hadn't brought anything to put his wares in, he hadn't really expected to buy stuff at the market, but he hadn't been able to pass up the deal he'd made. He'd stuck the makeup in his pants pockets, even in a world such as this where guys wore tribal markings it still wasn't cool to be seen walking around with eyeliner. He carried May's present in one hand, and a few odds and ends he'd traded to even out the deal in the other, one of them a board game he'd picked up, hopefully he could sit down and play a game with Mouse at some point. She was so adorable, he was still wrapped around her little finger, he'd do anything Mouse asked probably, if it was safe, he owed her so much after everything. Dax found himself outside of the Mall pretty quickly, it was a short walk from the Market really, and he carefully maneuvered inside as he tried not to drop his stuff all over the place.
