Buffy's first self-defense class was good -- and luckily she didn't think to ask me why I was late. She definitely wouldn't have liked the answer! Anyway, I think everyone had a good time even with the weird undercurrent going on between Sophie and Jan. What else could you expect, though? Not like it was a nice normal situation or anything. I tuck my hair behind my ears, smirking. "I don't think I do, but I'm not sure," I say. Avasa teases me sometimes that I do but I think he's just messing with me. He likes to do that. "If I do you can throw something at me," I tell her.

"So we'll have to figure out what stuff we're bringing... I bet those rooms are kinda small." I'm getting more excited about it now that we're actually discussing it. I think Sophie and I will get along well. "Jan and Amanda are rooming together... maybe we'll have rooms near each other."

After I've said that, I realize that she might not be enthused by close proximity to Jan, and vice versa.

Hm. Way to go, Dawn. I've finished my iced coffee and begin dismantling my styrofoam cup, peeling it from the top down as I like to do. "So, uh... you guys are kind of not getting along?" I ask. They seemed okay at the self-defense thing. 'Course, I was late. Anything could've happened before I got there.

"So, awkwardness then." I nod, directing my eyes to the cup I'm tearing up. "Maybe some of that'll pass?" I suggest. I don't know if it will or not, but it's something to say.

"Yeah." I have my cup torn down to the bottom fourth, so I stop fiddling with it. "Maybe with school starting and everything being all new and different, we'll... move on to new weirdness?" I suggest, then make a wry face as I realize that might not be a good thing.

"I know better than to expect no weirdness," I say. I try to steer the conversation to lighter stuff. "So, do you have any weird habits I should know about ahead of time? Like... listening to bagpipe music in the middle of the night or breeding tarantulas?" I smirk at her.

"Good! Because giant spiders kind of creep me out." I smile and begin gathering up my trash to throw away. "And I'll try not to wake you up in the middle of the night when I come in from seeing my boyfriend." I wink mischievously.
