I told myself that I would NOT get sucked into American Idol again this year. I blame Bo for last year, as he was far too cool not to get into. Let's face it, he should have won. Anywho, I told myself I was just going to watch the auditions...laugh a bit at the silly untalented folk, probably giggle at Simon's comments and then that would be it.
So why do I now watch it every single week you ask?
Because of Chris.
There just HAD to be another extremely talented rocker, didn't there? Hell, don't tell my aunt but I actually like Chris more than Bo. And I adored Bo...he reminded me of my cousin. But Chris (and his band Absent Element are more my style.
Let's see why Chris is so cool:
-Reason 1: He audition singing Joe Cocker's "The Letter." And rocked it.
-Reason 2: He's a step-dad and a damn good one from the looks of things. I love step-dads.
-Reason 3: Week 1 - Chris' song choice: Fuel's 'Hemorrhage'. One of my favorite alternative songs EVER and this kid rocks the hell out of it.
-Reason 4: Week 2 - Chris' song choice: Bon Jovi's 'Wanted Dead or Alive.' He rocked THE JOVI, people, THE JOVI. Do we not see already why this man is so cool?
I could go on, you realize, but I think you're seeing the point. He's awesome, he's amazing. I think he's the only true talent on the show this season. Am I going to watch? Yes. All season? *hangs head* Yes.
I don't want him to win, though. Boo. Making that lame American Idol single and CD would suck for sure, every single one has. But second place would be good. He'd have record labels crawling all over him in no time.
OH PS - Have you HEARD the boy's 'Walk the Line' cover? HOLY CRAP. That might be the most brilliant re-arrangment of a song since the Man in Black himself redid Nine Inch Nails' 'Hurt.'
