I'm the hunter...

So now that Matt has his new job downtown, we're seriously thinking about moving soon. Really, there's not much holding me back here. As much as I love my staff at Blush, it's not a regular job. Hours at the greenhouse are declining. Upon doing some research today, I came across a place that looks pretty wicked. I sent an email and my resume. Moments later, Matt's cousin phoned here. I mentioned that I had applied somewhere new. When I told him where it was (I wont say yet so I don't jinx myself), he was rather surprised. It turns out, the owner of this place is a very good friend of his, and in fact, they were going out together tonight! He invited me to go along. I would have, but after I thought about it a while, I don't think it's a good idea to go out and party with a potential employer I've never met before. Honestly, I don't ever like to see my boss smashed, nor do I enjoy being intoxicated myself in front of my superiors (which this guy could be!). Either way, I have a contact, and that's a great thing. Once I find out if I've really got a foot in the door.. I shall reveal the location. I'd do it now, but I'm pretty sure there are one or two other bartenders who read my journal and frankly, I don't want to give any of you a heads up on a good location. I'm greedy for a new good job. I really hope he remembered to mention me tonight.

Eep! just got a phone call.. he's with them right now :)He called to tell me he pretty much got me the job! LOL.. they're all together right now and talking about me. Hah! Well, I'll just wait for them to phone tomorrow. I'm so excited!

Wow, if I end up working downtown, I will have really fulfilled a long-term goal of mine! Ever since early high school I had thought about being a bartender. I wasn't sure I had what it takes to do it so I started way at the bottom, as a busser at 15 yrs old in a gross ass place. My goal was to work in a variety of places so I have a well rounded experience background. I've gone all the way from the very bottom to high end fine dining. Now I've got the experience and can even show off my work online (Blush's website). The plan was that eventually, I wanted to do a busy venue/club downtown, hang on to that for a few years while saving money, and then either start my own place or move on to something new. I never really thought about how far I've actually come in this adventure that used to be a sort of daydream of mine.

Anyway, I'm not gonna count my chicks just yet.. I'm just feeling a little hyped- especially since they're already discussing what kind of shifts I'll get! ~fingers crossed~

Wish me luck :)
