My Old Stomping Grounds
I made another visit to the University of Winnipeg today, dining at Dessert Sinsations at Dr. Kunstatter's expense. We discussed our paper (which looks like it is slowly moving out of development hell), and I figured out that a particularly difficult differential equation could be solved by Frobenius methods (so yay).
One thing that I had forgotten was just how much Fascistic grafitti there was on U of W bathroom stalls. It seems to have swarmed and multiplied in my absense. One piece today informed me that "A Vote for [Dr. Michael Ignatieff, internationally respected public intellectual] is a Vote for an American Jew." Several exhorted me to "Burn the Kor-An (sic)" and/or use it as toilet paper. And another piece (which was there when I left and which I am surprised has not been painted over) informs me that "[Barack Obama] has a black bum."
Right, so next time someone tells you how "progressive" the University of Winnipeg is, please punch them.
