That Martin Luther King Jr. was such a damn racist.

Seriously, a school in Denver was not able to serve MLK's favorite meal on Friday because someone was offended by it. How dare someone who was raised in the South like Southern food! How dare anyone take note of that and try to have some fun with it!

I left a few comments that are being screened right now. My favorite comment was from the black lady from the deep south who said it's only offensive if they don't cook it right. Amen!

On either the first or second Summer we were open, Linda was doing a cake for a family reunion that was to be a picnic theme since that was what they were doing for the reunion. So she decorated it like a picnic table cloth and put some hot dog and hamburger pics on it and then asked me if she should put the watermelon pics on it, or would that be somehow offensive. I didn't know who the order was for, but figured it had to be for a black family since she was asking that. I said no, it would not be offensive since watermelon is a Summer picnic food and the pics would look very nice in the corners. But I do admit there was a part of me that wondered if they would think we put watermelon on their cake just because they were black and thought we thought they must like watermelon because of that.

Anyway, they loved the cake and ordered another one for their reunion the following Summer. What a stupid world we live in! I would be really offended if I was black and people thought I couldn't handle things like fried chicken and watermelon.

Anyway, happy Martin Luther King Jr. day tomorrow. Go eat some Southern food and enjoy! Does anyone have any thoughts on were I might find a peach cobbler in Omaha?

stupid people, food, racism
