The advice thing is weird to me. I try to keep my problems and issues OUT of my journal! I think a less emotional and dramatic journal draws less comments. LJ seems to be widely driven by emotion, problems, drama.. *ponders*

Realistically a post of 'My day was cool. I'm happy as usual.' and a photo wouldnt make me comment. :P

Just as a note here.. I'm in no way meaning any of these comments or the rant as accusing or whatnot for comments on my journal or the community. I'm very simpply interested in what makes people tick and comment. Of course the best example is your own experiences.

*laughs re:the photo comment* I guess I'll tell you now then how I did it. :P I never mind doing so.

I added a layer over the original photo of plain black, changed it's properties to 'colour' so it looked like a greyscaled version of the original, erased my eyeballz0r from the top layer so the original showed through and enhanced the light in some area's after merging. :D

Ooh i'm going to have a mean ranty answer :D [not mean at you m'dear ♥]

People seem to comment most when I post pictures, and as much as I love that, i'm insulted that they don't comment as much as that on my text-posts also. I don't think it's because what i'm writing is boring, because I don't think it is, I think it's because they're lazy! I usually write a huge text post when I get back from spending time with Ste, because I assume my friends would quite like to know what i've been doing, but now i'm feeling much less inclined to do so, because unless people are commenting to show they care, I know I had a great time, so why waste my time on a huge entry ( ... )

It's funny, but so true! People are more likely to just skip something they'll have to take a bit of time to read and pay attention to for more than two seconds. :P ( ... )

Ahh yes, I do the 'ol skim & re-read manouver too!

And that's true, a lot of the time I write the things we've done because it makes me happy, and because it means I can recall the event and add my mental commentary of what I was thinking about it at the time also :)

Hmm, I guess it felt rude to just not add her because despite those two main quarrels we get on just fine! I'll see how it goes though, i'll give her posting a chance & if it's angering me too much i'll tell her i'm un-friending her & why, i'm sure she'd understand that enough, even if she thinks i'm in the wrong. I denied adding someone once because she was an uber-feminist, although she seemed lovely, intelligent & eloquent I said it was probably best if I didn't because of my anti-feminist stance, and I was polite, so she just deleted her request like leaving it there would disease her with anti-feminism :/

oh, the time of day never matters to me. when i go onto my friends page, i go back until i see a post i read already a day or two prior.

and yeh .. i'm one of those kids who have more than a few people on my friends list, and yet no one ever really comments on anything i post.

if it's pictures, i get a few comments, anything else .. nothing. =/ no one seems to care about what you have to say, just what you look like? .. i guess

I only post when I'm interested in the topic or something the person's said. This sometimes allows for bias, in that if I'm not in a good mood with someone I'll just skip over their posts completely, thus negating an chance of replying to them; other times my best friends could post 50 entries in one day and I'll still not find anything worth commenting on. I've got a wide variety of different people on my friends list, some of which I get to post philisophical answers, have 40 post conversation threads, or simply have the opportunity to say something like "Even Bee-man ( ... )

I find that I respond more to text posts than to pictures. However, I will take the time to express my appreciation for the beauty shown in a pic post, if it is warranted.

I also tend to respond more if the poster asks for input. I fugure if they are asking for my take, i'll give it. lol.

Every now and then I respond to a post in an off topic manner simply to communicate with someone.

I don't expect comments on my journal, and aside from certain ones that I can count on one hand with fingers left over, I don't recieve them. For me, my journal is a way to document my life and my feelings, and keep in touch with my widespread circle of friends.

So that is my take.
