Turkey Wrap-up

Nov 28, 2005 15:06

I've been back at school since about 5:30pm Saturday afternoon. My thanksgiving break was short...but enjoyable. I managed to do a whole lot of nothing while feeling completely busy.

Since they kept us until after 4 on Tuesday I didn't get to Brunswick until around 7. After a quick stop at grandma's place I went home and talked to my mildly interested family. The dogs were _very_ excited to see me...but only for about 30sec. O_o That’s pretty standard though.

Amanda and I had been conspiring to hang out and we did! We talked to my mom for a while. Well...I should say my mom talked to Amanda. Whenever I bring a girl into the house my mom leaps on her seemingly starved for the type of conversations my brother and I can't supply her with. I made good on my promise of hot chocolate and a back rub. =P I even got her to sit down and finish the first disk of Eva...at least I think we got through the first one. She made me watch Nip/Tuck before the evening was put to a rest. The show is amusing...but I've been left out of the loop too long and it seems like a soap opera with better acting. O_o; If it makes you feel any better Amanda I'd probably sit and watch it again with ya...I just don't see myself watching it solo. Sound familiar? *lol*

Wednesday I caught up with Lauren and her gang. The day was dubbed "Rent Day" by Lauren and will forever live in legend (as far as she is concerned). I'll remember it because it was the worst "hair day" I've had in my life. My mom was convinced I should try wearing my hair back in a pony tail. >_> It was...different. I suppose it didn't look too bad...I'm just not used to wearing it like that.

The problem came when I pulled it out on the way to the DMV. Lauren finally kidnapped me and forced me to get my license renewed (it was over a year and a half past the expiration date. o_o; what?...). I won't offer to show anyone my license...but I'll show ya if you can remember to ask. All I have to say is...beware the hair. It's a new kind of evil when it looses the curls.

As I said...it was "Rent Day". We had to wait on some of her friends though so we couldn't go until the 9:45 showing. We occupied the time by playing video games and going out to eat with her family.

After more video games and wasted time we went out to eat again...but this time with Josh. It was an interesting meal with equally interesting conversations. I had never given serious thought to murderous train-riding hobos before...

The movie was pretty good. I had seen the musical before...but it was interesting to see how they worked with the camera when it was never supposed to be a factor. I guess all musicals-turned-movies have to deal with that though. It was also interesting to see the black cop from Law and Order play the part of a 20-something homosexual computer wiz…that sings. I never would have thought he started on Broadway.

Thursday was full of WoW, Christmas decorations, family feuding, family togetherness, and food.

It was also about poker. When I thought I was done for the night Evan came over and kidnapped Lauren and I for a game of poker at Keith's house. I hadn't done that for a loooong time.

It was really weird when we showed up. Most of Keith's house...just...wasn't there. They were doing some serious remodeling and had only left a few rooms intact. Stewart was there. I knew him from high school...homeroom I think. I can't believe how bad my memory is. He's a hardcore redneck...but I swear he has the weirdest intellect on him. He was playing the poker game with us and marking some work of literature at the same time. He said he was going to be a high school teacher...*shivers*

The game was pretty interesting...though I may not have shown it. There were seven of us... the unmentioned two were a couple black guys I had never met before. They were pretty cool though. Both of them had a tendency to break out into song and spout quotes from standup comedians. O_o

We were playing for money of course. $5 got you $15 worth of chips. Games always become more intense when you have something to lose…that’s why I love palying fighting games in the arcade. Lauren was winning for a while...but Evan caught her on a couple bluffs and retired her first. I took out the next guy and they decided you could buy back in if you had the money. >_> I swear...it's like beating a boss in a game and having him come back in a different form.

Stewart went out next and he left for the night. Keith and one of the other guys went out after that and both of them bought back in. Evan was pretty much ruling the table for the entire game. I put Keith and the first guy I beat out again...but then Evan caught me with a lucky hand (pocket queens). I hate getting 3rd place...cause you get so close and don't win a damn thing. >_<

Evan ended up winning $45...but I'm glad it was him and not someone that bought back in. Just seems like cheating...

Friday was basically unproductive. I _should_ have gone to visit the Jewish Temple in town for my field project…but now I’ve been forced to correct that mistake “creatively”. Hopefully that will be wrapped up on time by this Friday.

I remember playing more WoW and putting up more of my mom’s Christmas decorations. Evan and Jayme called wanting me to come play poker again but I didn’t have any more money on me. To be honest I could have got some…I just felt like being lazy. I spent the rest of the night playing WoW and some SCIII with Lauren when she dropped by.

Saturday was spent packing up and heading back to Macon. I had planned to get an extra early start on my homework…but I ended up hanging out with Ron and Brett instead. We went out to eat at O’Charlie’s and watched anime at Ron’s place. Well…Brett and I watched anime. Ron went on another Molten Core run.

I’ll admit I cracked out a bit on WoW over the break. I gained almost 3 lvls, went on 3 different instance runs, and completed a bunch of quests. It was pent up from over a month of not getting to play. Even so…Ron is soooo much more of a freak than me. He started his 4th character…it was 15 before I left on Tuesday for vacation…it was 29 last night. He did 5 lvls yesterday….ONE DAY. Ugh -_- I stole Kelly’s greatest threat…and told him I’d cut his balls off with rusty piano wire if he gets 4 60’s before I get 1.

That’s about all I have to say. I did homework all day Sunday and I probably will continue that pattern for the rest of the week. My senior design project test plans are due tomorrow. I have a presentation, a project, and a lab final Wednesday. I have economy and communications homework due Thursday. To top it all off I have to bullshit my world religions field project by Friday.

I can’t wait for Christmas to get here. Anyway…peace out people.
