okay, here's another chapter from the book entitled "stupid things that the jordan family does". and there is a moral.
background info: the minivan is automatic. the element is a stick shift. both cars are black.
so we were going to skating at 6:30 this morning. my mom's minivan was blocked in the driveway by the element, so she moved the element, and we shoved all our junk in the minivan and off we go. and its really dark out. so we're going down the driveway and.... SMASH! i'm like wtf, my sister is scared cuz she thought we hit a moose or an elk or some burglar who would be really pissed and try to break into the car and kill her, and my moms like 'oh shit' and starts flipping out cuz WE BACKED INTO THE ELEMENT! apparently, when my mom had driven the element off the driveway, she forgot to park it in gear, or put the parking brake on. so it was in neutral, and our street is on a little hill thing, so it drifted in front of the driveway. and we couldnt see it cuz it was dark, until it went crunch. so we drove forward a bit, and my moms freaking, and i'm kinda laughing (cuz what are the odds? honestly) and then we go to check out the cars. my mom's bumper was fine, cept maybe for a few scratches, but thats one of those whatever things. so the element is not fine. the driver's side door got squished. theres this big bumper size dent in it... but we think its only a surface thing, cuz we opened the car and the door from the inside looked fine. anyway, so its like 6:40, and we go to wake up my dad and break the news. so he stumbles down the stairs, and looks at the car and is like 'what'. and then... we left for skating. kinda like a hit and run. imagine calling the cops and being like 'hi, i'm calling to report a hit and run' 'okay sir, who did it' 'well, my wife backed into my car, but then had to take the kids to skating' 'uhh okay then sir'.
so, the moral of this story is that you should always look twice before backing down your driveway, and that if you have a stick shift car, always park it in gear, or use the parking brake (or both). lol.
