Disclaimer: Eh. I dunno. Don't own Lindsay even though she's apparently taken up residence in my head. No, she belongs to the blokes over at Bruckheimer Television, Alliance Atlantis, CBS, and whoever else is lucky enough to have claim on her. Or Danny. So, y'know, nothing gained. Just for fun. Dun sue!
A/N: Written for csi50, so it's xposted. AU. More Lindasy than Danny/Lindsay, too. Also, twincy and the 216 beta'd for me this go-round. *loves on them*

Unable to sleep, Lindsay carefully extracted herself from Danny's warm arms. She made sure he was still asleep as she pulled on one of his shirts and made her way into the living room with Rex. Didn't want him to wake Danny up either.

She sighed, settling on the sofa after making some tea. Pulling the blanket around her shoulders, Lindsay flipped on the television. "Oh, good. The news. What else is there?" she murmured sarcasticly as she flipped through the channels. "Ooh, the X-Files. Haven't seen this in years," she said, patting the couch for Rex to come sit next to her. Which he did, promptly setting his head on her legs. "Your head is heavier than my kit, pooch."

Grabbing a file folder off the coffee table, she started going over some notes that she'd made earlier, before Danny got home. The words started blurring on the page, though, so she sighed and tossed it back on the table.

Lindsay hated nights when she couldn't sleep. She'd grown used to them when she was living on her own, and dealt with them by working. Ever since Danny'd started staying over on a regular basis, though, she'd been sleeping pretty well through the night. Her ghosts weren't haunting her quite as bad when he was around. Danny calmed her, gave her a peace that she hadn't felt since before Sarah died. Around him, she wasn't so melancholy all the time; he made her laugh, smile, made her a little crazy from time to time.

Before she and Danny started ... whatever it was they were doing when they first started doing it ... she didn't sleep much. Put on a front at work, always the happy new girl. But inside, she was quiet. Inside she was hurting, still grieving over Sarah, afraid to let anyone in. And back in New York, Danny had helped reinforce that. Now, though, he's completely different, and she was thankful for that. These last few months would have been miserable without him.

She heard the bedroom door open and smiled, leaning over the back of the couch to look at him.

"Hey," Danny said sleepily, padding into the living room. "What're you doing up?" he asked as he leaned over to kiss her forehead.

Lindsay shrugged. "I couldn't sleep. Just one of those nights, I guess."

He nodded, a frown creasing his face before he asked, "Sarah?"

Nodding, Lindsay looked down and scratched Rex behind the ears.

Danny sighed, his hands moving to her shoulders. "You want to talk?"

"No. Nothing to say that I haven't already said," she said softly, still not looking at him.

"C'mon, babe. Bed's cold without you," he said, stroking her hair. "Besides, if you're gonna be awake, I'd rather you be with me."

She nodded, turning off the television. Moving so she didn't wake Rex up, she slid off the couch and made her way over to Danny. "Should I leave him out here?"

He shrugged. "Whatever you want," he said, kissing her gently.

Lindsay smiled into the kiss, her arms wrapping around his neck. "How do you do that?"

"Do what?" he asked, a puzzled expression on his face.

"Make me feel better with just a few words."

Danny smiled down at her, tucking her hair behind her ear. "It's all part of my charm, Montana."
