Now even Heaven is blue today...

What a fantastic day that was, and what a fitting end to the season! Didn't Wembley look amazing with all the stands so full of blue? That's how it should be all the time, I reckon! Fair play to Everton, I hope the Final will be another step toward success for them and wish them luck in the Europa Cup next season.

As for Chelsea it's a bit unbelievable to see the boys finally getting some justice and the reward they deserve. Congratulations to Didi, Super Frank, and Ash for writing their names in the history books. I just knew Frank would score his 20th! (Suck on that, you PFA and FWA sphincters!) And I'm so pleased for Flo scoring at Wembley again, whatever the official scoreline said.

There are so many touching and hilarious photos floating around that I'm almost overwhelmed by all the happy. One of my favourite moments was this...

...when Mikey grabbed a camera and started taking this series of highly amusing photos of his teammates. The best has to be the one with Flo striking a wholly unconvincing gangsta pose with the Cup. ROTFL! Rock on with your bad self, FloMo! ♥

Apart from having to say goodbye to Guus the only negative on the day was yet another inept performance from the officials. I suppose it wouldn't have been an accurate reflection of the season without an offside goal allowed to stand, a Chelsea player booked in error, a clear penalty not awarded, and a legitimate Chelsea goal not counted. To be fair to the officials none of them could possibly have been correctly positioned to see for sure if the ball crossed the line, but as I recall UEFA's top referee did not feel constrained by that particular part of the law so it was a bit of a shock to learn that anyone else was. In any case Webb and his assistants need to take a long, hard look at themselves and their performance, and if the so-called best referee in the Premier League has any shred of professionalism and competence he will both apologize to Frank Lampard and immediately rescind his undeserved yellow card. Naturally I won't be holding my breath.

At least this time no one could deny the Blues a deserved victory, and we get to end the season on a high. Farewell, Guus, thanks for everything, and we'll see you around! May your parting gift be the start of a new era of success for Chelsea, and may your successor live up to the same high standards.
