Wow. I must say, I was totally going to say yes before I stumbled upon your drug answer. Your lack of knowledge really upsets me. Drugs are dangerous, be it Marijuana, Cigarettes, or even alcohol. It is all a danger to you and your health. No matter which way you put it, darling. It would have been legalized by now if it were healthy for you. I have known a few people who have come close to death from marijuana overdoses. Not only that, but many people start off using the innocent drugs (ie. Marijuana) and then move onto 'better' things, such as ecstasy and cocaine. You are being very narrow-minded in my opinion. Sure Marijuana may not be the worst drug out there, but does that mean it should be okay for 13 year old children to get high every saturday night because that is the cool things to do, and that should be excepted? welcome to the real world. It's not okay for people to do these things at such a young age, and it shows even more stupidity to do them at an older age. But hey what do I know right? I do know that Marijuana alone ( ... )

It would have been legalized by now if it were healthy for you.
Then here are a list of things that should also be illegal: cigarettes, alcohol (and let's not forget that alcoholism can be genetic), cough medicine (in large doses, you trip balls), morning glory seeds (again with the tripping balls, available in any gardening store), junk food and fast food (obesity, a growing health hazard in the US), ADD medication. If you ingest the wrong amount of anything, whether it's too much or too few, it's not going to be healthy for you.

Marijuana alone has been found to contain more cancer causing agents than in tobacco smoke.
Vodka contains more alcohol than beer. People who drink vodka in moderation are still in a better place than people who binge on beer every weekend. Marijuana is way more expensive than cigarettes anyway, so it's more likely that people are going to smoke cigarettes too much than pot too much.

And actually...

From "Marijuana Myths", written by Paul Hager, chair of the ICLU Drug Force:
5. Marijuana is much more ( ... )

Excuse me. I do know those people. And they have had near death experiences with Marijuana, and marijuana alone. It is a drug. You can die from overdosing on practically anything. Thank you very much.

How much did they smoke? Where did they get their weed? How long have they been smoking weed before this incident happened? Do they have allergies or conditions hitherto unknown?

I am very sorry that your friends had bad experiences with marijuana. I don't mean to reopen wounds or undermine the seriousness of a near-death experience. As someone mentioned before, it was possible that their weed was laced with something. It happened to my friend's parents when they were young; their weed was laced with PCP. They didn't nearly die, but they had a bad experience and have never smoked weed since. Which is understandable. I hope you understand I'm not beating up on those who don't smoke up. It's everyone's right to make that decision. It's just that personal experience leads me to conclude that it's going to take a lot of time, dedication, and money to overdose on weed alone.

People can die from an overdose of ANYTHING sweetheart. It wasnt laced with anything. They nearly died because of a bad desision they made. To OD on it. Weed and weed only.

Talk out of my ass? What else do you want me to do? Cite other sources (that actually support my argument instead of the opponent's)? Declare that I've been smoking marijuana for a good while now while remaining a student in good standing who holds student leadership positions around campus? Nope, no, won't do that, 'cos why would I feel the need to expend such effort when you had turned this debate personal by attacking me instead of my arguments?

We've seemed to lay out the supporting evidence we feel necessary, and there's no point continuing this debate if we're just going to repeat the same points. Feel free to get the final word on me, but I've spent enough time and effort on this.

I'll end things on this note: I Googled 'marijuana overdose' for you.

Have a good day.

Please darling. It's the internet. You can get resources supporting beatiality for gods sake. Oh, and did I ever say that people who smoke marijuana cannot lead succesful lifes? oh yeah thats right! I didnt! So if you are done, so am I. But do you think you are cool to smoke it? Does it make you that much better? I'm sorry but you just look like an idiot to me. Why do you do it anyway? I think I am going to be amused when you answer that question. I do look forward to it.

Marijuana is a gateway drug because of vague social factors, not exact neurological factors. The connection is a weak one at best. It's like saying, "Suzy was interested in tap-dancing, but now she's really into acting and theater."

Again from Hager's report:
3. Marijuana is a "gateway" drug-it leads to hard drugs ( ... )
