First of all, this journal is for women who have a genuine interest in women's rights and commitment to sisterhood. Discussion has always been a vital part of the development of the women's movement. If you disagree with something published here, please don't hesitate to say so unless your opinions fall under the banned comments section. If you do

I believe that the best way to advance a cause is to welcome dialogue with those who vehemently disagree, as many times, people have not even fully conceptualized another's way of thinking.
Well, I disagree. My purpose in keeping this journal is not to change men's minds or the break the conditioning of patriarchally colonised women. If that were my purpose I would delete everything I have written right now. Because there would be no point for me to try and do that. It would be completely pointless.
My purpose in keeping this journal is to give myself a voice and to encourage the voices of other women who think similarly and are likewise marginalised. I don't claim to encourage dissent to my views which are pro the things on my banned comments list. People who think like that are not welcome here. If you consider that to be censorious that's fair enough. But me? Those views kill women of all colours and men of colour and they silence our voices.
I don't agree that my journal is an echo chamber. But I don't think that it is wrong in the least to run a journal that gives marginalised women an emotional boost. I don't agree at all that it is politically inefficient. I think that safety in building a women's community is essential.
Thanks for your comment here. I think it takes a lot of courage to disagree with someone like me who is pretty forthright and I do appreciate that you take the time to consider what I say even if you disagree.

I suppose what I mean is that the clarity of your expressed thought has been so enlightening for me that I sometimes forget that this is, indeed, a presonal journal. As such, it certainly is not in the spirit of censorship that you explicitly prohibit the advocation of certain perspectives. Being black, I can't imagine a personal journal that I might keep where I would welcome comments where people sought to marginalize or dehumanize me because of their distorted beliefs concerning race.

There have been times when I've disagreed with you, and as you note, I comment at those times. But I do quite appreciate the forthright nature of your posts and I quite respect that fact that even while holding such strong opinions, you respond respectfully to disagreement. Anyway, I'm sick and rambling , so I should probably go and find my blanket.

Just out of curiousity, if you did keep a more political journal would you allow comments that were racist and sexist? Because this is, as you noted, both a political and personal journal and I do open it up to people I do not know. I guess I just feel if I go to a blog or journal that allows all sorts of comments I feel less safe to comment there. I also wanted to let everyone know that I was moderating and how so that people wouldn't waste their time.
Anyway, thanks again for your kind comments. I hope you get better soon.
