Its that seems-like-quarter-annual update time!
Work: I got promoted! A Store Manager position opened up in the Bluenotes Outlet location in Toronto. And they offered me the job! The store is 12000 square feet.. gigantic.. (in fact, the stockroom alone is two thirds the size of my last store). I've got a team of about 25 people, including three sales managers and a stock manager under me. It is one of the top 3 stores in the entire company... so pretty huge deal for me! I have been there three weeks now and have made some very big changes in the store. Its all very exciting.
Play: I had been telling myself (in fact, it was my new years resolution) that I would buy a car this year, as long as my salary hit a certain point. And with this promotion, it did... and so, I did as well! About two weeks into my new position I went out and bought myself a brand new 2009 black soft top Jeep Wrangler! Woo! The novelty still hasnt worn off yet... and it makes it so worth it when the sun is shining and youre the only car on the road with no roof. So that is certianly my achievement of the year.
In exactly one week from yesterday, my best buddy Phil and I will be hopping in my Jeep and driving 20 hours to the Maritimes, getting onto an 8 hour ferry, and driving another 14 hours to St. Johns, NFLD. Im so excited. Originally we were going to take his car, but it is standard and as much as he taught me how to drive it, it just wasnt going to happen. I was fine and had no problem with it what so ever, but as soon as a car came up behind me, I panicked and stalled. Over and over. Eventually we both got frustrated and decided that I either need to take lessons (which I deemed useless) or I buy my own car before the trip. My original plan was to buy it after the trip anyway, so I advanced myself a month or two and just went out and got it. Which is why I bought the car so quickly. Its going to quite the trip. We're going to leave at 2 pm on the 4th, drive straight through the night, and get to Cape Breton, NS for mid day on the 5th to wait for an 11 pm ferry to the west end of NFLD. The total trip will be about 2 weeks long. So excited!
I made a promise to myself that I would take more advantage of this summer than I did the last summer so I've already got my camping trip in order a month after we get back from our trip. It'll be just the guys and I for a real camping trip. Its been so long.
Wedding: Linda and I are going to view two venues tomorrow... which is also very exciting. Im almost more excited just to get this process over with. Even though we have over a year before the wedding, its just such a burden in the back of my mind. A very exciting one, mind you... but itll be nice to just have it sorted out and ready for us. Ill keep you all updated on that!
Anyway, I believe thats all there is to it for now! Doesnt seem like much, but its pretty nuts when its all in one head.
