i got caught up in this discussion about religion, im an agnostic first of all and i was arguing with a christian. this kid was more a christian radical than anything, i'd like to say he is the equivalent of a muslim terrorist. anyways i thought about how our generation is religious and what not.
lets say a child is born into a christian family. this family is going to preach the word of christ. they're going to tell this child that christianity is the only way into heaven, or what ever comes after our bodies retire. im saying this child will grow up believing this. is it really because they have faith, or is it because they've been taught to believe this? i dont want to call it brainwashing, but that the first word that comes to mind. people are usually baptized as babies or pronounced chirtians as babies. this goes for jews and muslims too, only because thats what their parents want and thats what they believe. what if we made our religious choice at a mature age? when we can read about these religions? it seems to me that religion is a sales pitch. the priest is the car dealer and we are the average uninformed buyer. i think if this happened religion would exist as a minority belief. people would just get too caught up with everyday society, you know, traffic, sex, lies, logic and science.
faith is a lottery.
