christmas this year was....well it's over, so who cares how it was. my mom gave my sister and i $100 each and we drove to south dakota (where the nearest mall is located) and, thanks to some amazing sales i was able to walk away with a sweater, a jacket, a dress, a pair of jeans, three tank tops, some pajama shorts, new underwear and a pair of boots for 80 bucks. from my dad- the 15th anniversary reservoir dogs dvd. from my grandparents- some measuring cups (for my own kitchen which i will have when i move to san fransisco in 36 days!!) and a bolt of fabric. from aunt brandy and uncle kevin- some shoes. aunt nancy and uncle chris- 50 bucks for amazon.com which i used for 3 vegan cookbooks and the criterion collection dvd of the royal tenenbaums.
but i treated MYSELF to a new (vintage) bag, a new (vintage) pea coat, Brick on dvd, a vintage owl cookie jar, The Life Aquatic on dvd, and a few bottles of the Marc Jacobs signature fragrance.
christmas day my grandmother thought it would be a great idea to go serve dinner at the church to people who would otherwise spend christmas alone. i gave it a good go, but after thirty minutes i couldn't stand the sight of it anymore. honestly, who the hell does my mom think she is to make us spend the holidays with people we DON'T EVEN KNOW when my father is spending the day ALONE. so i left and drove the hour to see him.
