Living World Inspired by Kowloon Walled City, and the LARPseal Redux

I know. Believe you me, I know how ridiculous this is right now. Have you seen the hour?

But I've been playing around with the notion of living worlds, because hoo boy are they maybe my second-favorite thing in gaming roleplaying styles. First is LARP, because I get to look nice consistently, and I challenge anyone to disagree that dressing fancy is a confidence booster.

Anyway. Back in the day, this place called Kowloon Walled City existed. And it was a closed system, in a way. I'm sure that the Cube or whatever in Obsidian is inspired by it. So I was wondering...what would it be like, to have a game set there? With sin-eaters, vampires, mages...some types would be right out, though, but I think that would be awesome.

I need to go to bed, but I have insomnia right now. Oh, oh dear god.

I'd like to read up on the Invictus, because they're hilarious and their layers of etiquette make me happy. I think it would be interesting to sort of establish with players who have high status in one area or another how it could add another layer to wear the Prince's colors, or to get a bulk order of fleur-de-lis pins to show your support for the Prince or the Primogen Council. Just something to add to interest and not burden players, though, something to keep us entertained collectively and gossip about, because if anything gossips better than a bunch of old women, it's vampires.

I really like the idea of having those pins too, because it might be nice for players down the road as a memento. I don't really know, but it could be nice and something to be conscious of. I'm trying not to get too attached to any one thing, but after talking with Justin about his experiences as a two time LARP ST, I'm feeling very inspired and energetic about doing cool stuff with LARP. These pins might be very reasonable to get for people or direct them towards, since they're expensive but also seem nice.

Okay; now I'm trying for bed.

larp, game
