Another poem

Our Cheap Pizza Parlor

With stained tablecloths and dusty chairs

That have never been sat on

Except for us

It’s our table

It’s our restaurant

Where we had our first date

And I dare another person to sit in our dusty chairs

Not like we have to worry about that

Because its our little secret

Its nothing to anyone but us

It’s not a five star restaurant by any means

But it’s the most gorgeous place I’ve ever seen

And I’ll never forget the time I told you that you had food in your teeth

An invisible piece of food

Made up so I could be near your mouth

When I told you “Let me get it”

And then I kissed you

In the place that we went to because it was all I could afford

Sorry I can’t give you better

Because you deserve it

But if it’s any consolation

If I had a dollar for every time I cried because I loved you

We would be eating in that five star restaurant, its true because…

I wish I could photocopy my heart

And hand it out to the world

So everyone knows how much I love you

And I’m sorry your first kiss was in this dump

But remember darling, mine was too

So let me pretend that you have another invisible piece of food in your teeth

So I can kiss you once more on this day

Our Anniversary
