72 and sunny

Hello from bourbon street. Today is the first full day of the "drinking and eating the last few days of my 30's tour" across the fabuluous city of New Orleans LA.

I am sitting here eating beignets' drinking caffe au lait and enjoying the jazz and weather of this great little open space on bourbon while Chris sleeps in so I thought I would blog our trip this far.

Forgive the typos' doing this on my slide phone.

We got in yesterday afternoon, pretty tired from getting up before 4am and starving. Decided to order room service while we cleaned up. Our hotel is the Iberville Suites, the cheap cousin of the Ritz in the same building. For $115 a night we get a decent king sized suite on the 6th floor that looks out over the roofs of the quarter and all the ammenities of the Ritz, including their room service. Lunch was gumbo, lobster bisque and a ceasars with shrimp. It was all fab and a great start to the weekend. I jumped in the shower and when i came out Chris was a sleep (if you know my husband it's no surprise.)

I went for a walk down royal and looking in the windows of all the great shops. When i came back i woke up Chris for a lite dinner of oysters. We went down the street and saw a line at Acme, so went across the street to Felix's which had open space. The guy behind the bar fed us two dozen and we downed them in short measure with a local beer called Dixie (for me atleast). The server (what do you call an oyster shucker) was friendly and fast with the oysters. The oysters hit the spot. More fab.

We then started a walk down bourban but decided we were both pretty tired and went back to the hotel, spending the rest of the night cuddling and proving oysters as an afrodesiac (no clue how to spell it).

I woke up to a perfect morning and walked down bourban a bit to find this fab little caffe that serves au lait and beignets. Who needs the hustle, noise and tourism of cafe du monde. This place, cafe beignet, is quiet and serene. An open courtyard with cobble stone, brick and pleasnat soft jazz. I am in total bliss.

Maybe tomorrow morning I will post more.
