I'm going to bow out here because it was never honestly my intention to get into a flame war with you. I just wanted to say a couple of things before I go, so maybe you'll understand why I've said what I have and the way I have.

One, it wasn't so much my assumption that you were talking about religion as it was your implication. I believe your words were "We're so Islamicly evil". Since Islam is the primary religion of the Middle East and not the name of that region, pairing that statement with a speech about an act of terrorism gave the impression that you felt the president had stood up and said "Muslims are evil".

The reason that I was quite so annoyed by this point is that I've sat by quietly while you've talked about your hatred for "the American Empire" and how your only consolation is that all empires fall. I've never wished any harm to your country, incidentally, and since such an empire doesn't exist, I'm not even sure what sort of harm you're wishing to mine. I've also listened to you talk about using your American passport to get around Europe more easily, and then turning around and saying things like the statement above. I was offended by both, but kept quiet. In retrospect, I guess I should have just removed you from my friends list instead of saying anything to you, but I wanted to try to get along with you. But when you made the comments you did yesterday, their implication combined with the previous suggested a rather total and unreasoning hatred of america, but a willingness to use it for your own benefit when necessary, and my anger got the better of me. I get a lot of flack just for being american, without anyone trying to find out what I think, and it makes me intolerant of completely unjustified attacks. Which is what your comments looked like.

i don't give two shits what you think, to be honest. if you actually followed anything i wrote, you'd understand what inner turmoil i'm in because of this fucking american poassport that i never asked for to begin with. torn between using it for my own benefit by getting into a glaswegian university to get a good education, but having to deal with all the nasty consequences of actually having it. did you miss the entry where i pondered whether or not to burn it when i'm done with university?! i guess not. your not the only american on my list, you're just the only one apparently blinded by the colours and refusing to understand that you can love your country but STILL recognize and accept it's blaring flaunts and the grave effect it has on the rest of the world.

don't tell me whether or not to respond to your comments, you are posting in my journal. you stop posting, i'll stop responding.
