What happened that you need to forget? When bad things happen, people usually react in one of two ways. They decided that since that happened, God doesn't exist because a true God wouldn't allow that to happen, or they become stronger in their faith. The second one sounds crazy; I know it does. However, I believe that the hard times are simply trials in your life. God doesn't give you anything you can't handle. It may be really tough, but you've got it in you. All throughout the Bible, there are verses talking about God testing them. I believe it's an honor to be on trial for God. Personally, I want to go somewhere where I'm in danger for my faith. Trials aren't all that extreme, obviously, but they are meant to strengthen our faith and put our hearts in the right place. I don't remember the verse right now, but it's something along the lines of, "Cross examine me, Lord, put me on trial. Make sure I'm living for You, search my whole life..." Often if we get too full of pride or caught up in the world, God reminds us who is in charge by challenging us, and making us stop and examine ourselves. Challenges are not punishments, as many people think, they are just used to help us. We are supposed to love God with everything we have, but we're also supposed to fear Him. Not in a terrified sort of way, but the respect you have for someone that's ridiculously magnificent.
That was really long, but I couldn't really think of any way to describe it shorter. I talk too much.
But I will be praying for you to be able to find it in yourself to know His love..Because honestly, and this is not a cliche Bible thumper of America talking, God has truly filled the void in my life. I stumble. I've made huge mistakes. Basically my whole junior year was a mistake. But I'm back on track and trying my hardest to live for and honor God. It's hard, if it was easy, everyone would choose to do it, but it's not, and that's what makes it so special. We have it available, and we just have to choose it.
