BUSTED

I went down to Plattsburgh NY yesterday with the intention of buying some groceries. I like to go get Cookie Crisp in the Sates since we haven't had it in Canada in over 15 years I think. While I was in the mall, I spotted some stuff at the FYE music store and at Hot Topic that were being sold at a huge discount; stuff I could buy for my store that we don't have available from Canadian distributors yet. I spent around $200 between the 2 stores. On the way back to Canada, my girlfriend and I decided to only declare the groceries, but unluckily, she couldn't produce the receipt for them fast enough, so they told us to pull over. She then found it, but they insisted on checking the car anyway. When they found the shirts, I just said they were in the car from before, a return from my store to my distributor. My girlfriend had made the mistake of not destroying the receipts however, and they were found in her purse. Not only that, but they also found her dog repellent key chain in her purse, which she forgot to leave at home just in case this might happen. The key chain had broken off and the label had worn off, so it looked no different than your standard can of mace, and now, we were pushed against the wall and being frisked. She was handcuffed and put in a cell for 45 minutes and got to call a lawyer. Finally, they decided not to press charges. They fined me for smuggling goods, and then they fined my girlfriend for what they believed to be as smuggling a weapon, even though I legally purchased it in Canada at the army surplus. I guess the worst part is that it was her mother's car, and it will be checked when her mother uses it to go down there now....not the greatest thing to have to explain to her parents when they get back from Europe. Canadian border patrol has really pissed me off on the way back in these past couple times.
